We will probably be contacting the rabbi for the ceremony. FSIL either hasn't been called back, or hasn't initiated contact with the chaplain he was trying to locate. It's his one main input to the ceremony, and he's not doing his part. BD seemed a little miffed about it when the subject came up in conversation with my niece and nephew today. We were visiting my new grandniece. She didn't express an opinion.

I am not really looking forward to the Passover seders this year. Nice to see all the family, but I need to coordinate my intake with the low fiber diet for my upcoming colonoscopy. Heckuva way to celebrate the exodus from Egypt. Maybe an extra plague, or something to do with the parting of the waters. Feel free to post your own joke. Someone has to do better than those. I'm too tired tonight.

Never heard of someone being on a low fiber diet before a colonoscopy. Also - all of the seders I have been to are filled with low fiber, high fat options. You must come from a very healthy family.

I quote from the instruction sheet:
Restricted residue diet (5 days prior): no nuts, seed, popcorn or corn. Discontinue fiber supplements.
Low residue diet (2 days prior): eggs any way except fried; cereals except whole grain or barley; white or seedless rye toast with butter or margerine; bananas, applesauce, peaches and pears without skin; juice without pulp; coffee and tea with or without mile or cream.
Clear liquid diet (day before): broth, bouillon, consomme, tea and coffee without cream or mile, carbonated beverages, juice without pulp, Italian ices, Popsicles, Jell-O (no red or purple). We encourage you to drink clear liquids up until 4 hours before your procedure.

This is very different from what I had for my sigmoidoscopy years ago. And this didn't properly clean me out last time, which is why the low residue diet and maybe the clear liquid diet (I need to ask my doctor) starts 2 days before and not one day. So I'm gonna be REALLY cranky next Monday and Tuesday. Don't expect me here on Wednesday the 23rd.

Are you going to drink the GoLitely (what a joke that name is) before?

My m-i-l was on the liquid diet 2 days before and no GoLitely.

I can't get my mom to do this no matter how much I talk about it. She said she'd rather have colon cancer.

wtf?

I get 4 Dulcolax pills, followed by an entire container of Miralax in 64 ounces of Crystal Light. Yummy.

That seems like an amount of fluid that would not be horrible for most people.

The 4 Dulcolax could be fun - stay close to the john!
