John Corbett Sighting

Snaxx will be happy to know that his namesake is in view this week in Street Kings, playing one of the cops in Keanu Reeves' squad. It took me a while to realize it was him because he's got a short haircut and a big moustache.
You may have trouble picturing John Corbett as a tough street cop, and let's just say that this is not his best genre. He does look good in the role though. It's not Keanu Reeves' best genre either, and since he has a heck of a lot more screen time than Corbett, it doesn't help the film. It would have played better with someone like Christian Bale or Joaquin Phoenix in the lead.
The movie has some good action scenes (lots of violence though) and a lot of good dialogue (it was written in part by James Ellroy, although it plays as if his screenplay draft was heavily reworked) The director was David Ayer who wrote Training Day and Dark Blue. In fact, this movie plays like a recycled first draft of a hash of those movies and LA Confidential. Not a disaster, but not anything memorable either.
