CalTech Researchers Discover Ninth Planet

This is breaking news, and obviously, like anything scientific, it's subject to verification, but Cal Tech researchers have discovered what they say is a planet ten times the size of the Earth that's orbiting the sun in an elliptical orbit that's 20 times farther out than Neptune. If they are smart, they will name it Plutoo, so that people can just go back and do a few minor edits of all those now out of date astronomy texts.

Note that I'm refraining here from making a highly tempting snarky comment about what to name a new planet that's way out there.

And the Buckeyes persist in demanding that their school should be billed only as The Ohio State University (with capital T on "the.") The rest of the world ignores that, too.

I read the article in Science, which convinced me it's really there, even though it may take years to actually get a look.

When they do, I think it should be named after Brown and Batygin, the two scientists who made it real. Sorta like comets. Nah, they'll probably pick another Greek god. For the record, I am totally opposed to Plutoo. Ugh.

Given where it is, maybe they should name it after these guys:

All the planets are named after Roman gods except for two. One is Earth and Ace knows the other one.

2.8 Billion miles to Neptune times 20-I am getting almost 56 Billion miles to the new thing.

It's nearly three and a half days travel time. At Warp 1. --Bob

I suppose it depends on how gender specific you like to be.
