I hate hearing about people close to my age dying

So stop it!

All of my uncles died between 68 and 72 years of age. I was just diagnosed with a "lesion" on the proximal surface of a rib. I know that is actually metastatic cancer. I'm going to have a full body gamma scan on Wednesday (it was supposed to be today but they broke the scanner) which should show what other bones are involved.

Bob, I hope its just a nonmalignant thingie. Or even a shadow of a nothing.

A recent CT scan for my kidneys, showing them to be currently stone- & other new stuff-less, though big old cyst in one remains, also showed some stuff with a very funny name (greenglass something) which "could be evidence of a collapsed lung lobe". Or not. Lobes can collapse for many reasons but one of course is cancer. Me hanging around my old chain-smoking friend in the day, who refused to stop in my presence because "its my house"? That stuff on the pipes in my currenr apt's basement that my landlord swore they were going to have cordoned off, per the law, for removal, then one day it had just been disappeared, doubtless leaving asbestos fibers for us to breathe?

My doctors aren't even worried.

Oh yeah, & I've got a small hiatus hernia too. Which explains a history of occasional chest pain with no blood flow problems when checked. That, & the previous CT which showed, as this still does, a big gallstone.

Adding prayers and good wishes for the best possible outcomes.

Like benigness.

Thanks all for the good wishes.

At 10:00 I'm going to be slightly radioactive. The at 2:00 I go back to see where it landed.

As the Mills Brothers sang, "When you gotta glow, you gotta glow..."

Good wishes for a benign result.

Well I've had a PET and a CAT scan since my last report. I've decided to skip the DOG scan.

The PET scan showed nothing is wrong with my bones. The CT scan showed normal calcification of the lowest part of my lungs but nothing else.

I just picked up a prescription for the generic of Cymbalta, we'll see if that helps.

Essentially what I have is pain on the right flank of my thorax. It's from behind the lowest ribs. If I move the wrong way, or even if I just stand still, sometimes it feels like someone is twisting a knife in my side. I'm sure that has caused me to wake up in the middle of the night many times now. Here's hoping the new drug works.

I don't know how I missed this thread when originally posted, but I'm glad it seems that the hoped for best has been realized.

Good luck with the treatments and I hope it reduces or eliminates the pain and more importantly that somehow they determine the cause and treatment for it, rather than the symptoms.

Thank you. I'm taking the generic for Cymbalta, commonly prescribed for fibromyalgia. We'll see how that goes.

fibromyalgia.....aka..."we have no clue why but believe your muscle pain is real, so this is the best name we can come up with..."

Yeah, "idiopathic" is always a good excuse.
