Checking in from Harrisburg
Where we arrived safely despite an energetic thunderstorm.
Stopped at an Olive Garden (Daughter1111's fav) where there was no line for dinner along the way. There is always at least an hour wait at the one near us.
Penn State after breakfast in the morning.

Okay, most of the time I would agree with you. But as others have pointed out, time alone with a teenage daughter who actually doesn't mind being seen in public with you is rare.Booch wrote:Have a great time in Harrisburg???????????peacock2121 wrote:Have a great time!
Extremely close to impossible.

To see her speak up with well thought out questions about what classes she should take to prepare her for what she believes will be her college major is amazing. After a generic tour, we ended up in a room with two professors and about 5 students. All other students had already completed 2 years at another campus and were transferring in. She seemed at ease and spoke up with confidence.
As much as I loved going to Penn State, I am not sure it is where she will go. But alot of it will be up to her to weigh and decide since she things to be thinking things through quite thoroughly.

Of course, it's daughter1111's choice. But it'd be nice if she chose your alma mater!christie1111 wrote: As much as I loved going to Penn State, I am not sure it is where she will go. At this time she wants to go into secondary education, leaning to the social studies curriculum. A lot can change between now and a degree, but she is looking at colleges that have a strong teaching program.
I thought she might go towards the special needs area, but she doesn't think so at this point.
She gave up her only study hall periods to help provide one-on-one assistance to a girl mainstreamed in a PE class.
