Update on my eye

Here's the latest on my eye problem: The doctor I saw yesterday was great! He did a very comprehensive examination and came to the conclusion that I didn't have an infection, I had an inflammation due to my vitreous humor pulling away from my retina in one spot. That left all sorts of debris floating around. He's referred me to a retina specialist who I will see on Monday morning. We determined the proximate cause was probably my lifting my moving boxes.

I don't know if there's any way to remove the junk that's interfering with my vision. If there isn't, I'm just going to have to wait until things clear. My left eye already had its near vision damaged in 1983 due to an operation to suture in the lens that was implanted after my cataract surgery. My doctor says it's possible for that to be fixed now just by getting an injection in the eye.

Wish me luck.

So it's not a detached retina? I'm glad they're getting to the source of your problem and I do wish you luck and healing! Kay

Good luck, Bob. I guess all that's better than having some rare and nasty infection.

The doctor can't say the retina isn't detached or torn at the edges, but he doesn't think it is. The doctor I'm going to see on Monday should be able to make that determination.

Well, I am glad to hear it is doing better and that it appears to be primarily a posterior vitreous detachment. Good that you are going to see a retina specialist to be sure there is not any indication of a possible retinal detachment which can be secondary to a PVD.

I am also happy to hear that you do not have endophthalmitis which as I noted earlier, in addition to being fairly rare given the history you related, could be potentially sight threatening.

Glad that you got the diagnosis and that you are seeing the retina guy (gal).

Follow their instructions!

Good Grief & Good Luck!

(I didn't even know you still had an eye problem 'til I read this; I am behind the times due to work-related stress (& work stress itself.)

Actually, it's anterior, but the same idea.

Thanks! I don't know what instructions there might be other than using Lotemax four times a day.
