* Postscript, 11:40 p.m. | Early estimates of 40-degree Fahrenheit temperatures around the North Pole didn’t hold up as data from buoys set in the sea ice, reported by Capital Weather Gang, showed a reading of 33 degrees: “A buoy (WMO ID Buoy 6400476) at a latitude of 87.45 degrees North hit a high temperature of 0.7 degrees C

Gee, that means the water around ice is almost freezing?! Who would have thought?

Admiral Peary started his trek to the North Pole in February. Perhaps you can explain why.

Like Taylor, I'm not an earth scientist, but I know a lot about the subject.
Ocean ice is affected by short-term factors like El Niño. But it's clear in the graph that Taylor links to his story that the long-term trend is down. Then on page 2, Taylor agrees that the earth's average temperature has been increasing, but he thinks that's a natural phenomenon and a good thing. The overwhelming majority of climate scientists think human activity has contributed to the increase, and it's dangerous.
