This story by Al Jazeera America accuses big-name athletes, including football hero Peyton Manning and baseball greats Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman, of using performance enhancing drugs:

The dark side: The secret world of sports doping

Other news media have poked holes in the report. The athletes deny the accusations and are threatening legal action.

As near as I can tell, the "story" is that a British hurdler working undercover for Al Jazeera approached a pharmacist looking for drugs and the pharmacist on camera said something to the effect of "Sure, Peyton Manning and the Ryans get their drugs from me." Now the pharmacist denies this.

Let's just say that Al Jazeera's standards for investigative journalism are a bit loose.

It wasn't that long ago someone accused Albert Pujols of using PEDs. He responded appropriately: he filed a lawsuit for defamation. The accusation evaporated almost immediately. --Bob
