Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, Steve Miller Band, NWA.

I am thrilled that Cheap Trick is in. Never thought they'd make it...one of my all-time favorites. I have been complaining about Chicago and Purple being snubbed for a long time. Miller is not one of my favorites, but not ridiculous for him to be inducted. NWA...influential, yes, but again we come to the sticking point that this is called the ROCK hof. The main influence THEY'VE had is to help push rock out of its position as primary form of mainstream music. Unless you change the name of the hall, I don't think they belong.

Still so many on the outside that should be in.....but this is a start to rectifying the blatant omissions. I'll accept this year's class with much more enthusiasm than last year's, and actually look forward to seeing this year's induction ceremony/concert performances.

Now let's get the Monkees, Moody Blues, and especially the Doobie Brothers

I totally agree that The Moody Blues should be inducted. Nights in White Satin alone should include them. Their concert at Royal Albert Hall is still on my top 10 list of all time albums.

I can't complain with this year's list. I'm especially excited that Chicago will finally be inducted. Same way I felt when Linda Ronstadt and Hall & Oates were finally inducted a couple of years ago.

Now I have to wait for some of my other snubs to get their day finally. My list includes the Moody Blues, the Doobie Brothers, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Kenny Loggins, Electric Light Orchestra, and Phil Collins (as a solo artist). And since Madonna is in the HoF, I would like to see Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey get considered in the near future.

That's the main reason I will never go to the rock and roll Hall of shame..... nwa...... NO WAY ASSSHOLES!!!!!!!

I'm not sure Steve Miller deserves to get in above a lot of others who never will, but I saw him sit in with Jimmie Vaughan (Stevie Ray's older brother) at an outdoor show this summer and he impressed me as a solid blues singer and guitarist. He proved that he's more than just the Pompatus of Love. Here are a couple of videos from that show.

The knock on Miller has long been that, after a decent start as a blues guy, he "dumbed it down" to find mainstream success...that he was basically being half-hearted in his efforts to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Never had a strong opinion on that either way, but I've always been lukewarm in my appreciation. I wouldn't change the station if one of his records came on, but I wouldn't be bouncing around in my seat or raising the volume either.
