Headscratcher - Nkemdiche brothers

Sometimes, one just has to shake one's head, and this is one of those time.

Last month, Denzel Nkemdiche, a linebacker at Ole Miss, was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons (initially in the ICU), nothing football-related. Like many, I just hoped that whatever was wrong with the young man was taken care of and that he gets better. I respect the right of medical privacy, and leave it at that. He hasn't played since, and the Ole Miss coach has said he probably wouldn't be playing in the Sugar Bowl game either.

Then, yesterday, his brother, Robert Nkemdiche, also an Ole Miss linebacker and likely a top-10 NFL pick next year if he goes pro, took a bad trip.

Literally.

Through his hotel window in Atlanta.

Sometimes, as I said, ya have to wonder. But then I remember that this isn't a new thing (c/r Len Bias). And I shake my head.

I hope both of these kids figure it out before it's too late.

I'm betting it was "spice", not marijuana.

From Twitter:

Atlanta PD reports finding seven rolled marijuana cigarettes in fourth-floor hotel room from which Robert Nkemdiche fell.

Yep, he's now charged with possession.

Or maybe it's with being possessed -- that might explain the window/walk/over the wall/fall down routine.

I can't find anything that says the lab test came back.

Well, Robert "I can jump off of hotels" Nkemdicke was suspended for the Sugar Bowl. No matter, he's said he's going to turn pro in the spring. (He does know the NFL does drug testing, right?) That means he can (legally) sign with an agent -- and borrow money from him to make bail, etc. :P

Sadly, brother Denzel, the one who was in the hospital earlier for "undisclosed reasons" has suddenly taken a turn for the worse.

According to a press release issued by the Ridgeland Police Department, officers responded to 711 Lake Harbor Drive at 9:31 Monday morning for reports of an "unresponsive male." The call was deemed a "medical aid call," and Ridgeland Fire Department was called to the scene to assist, according to the release.

Nkemdiche was then transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Tuesday morning, UMMC said there was no patient listed under Nkemdiche's name.
Why does it seem like the Ghost of Len Bias seem to be hanging around these two?
