Les survived, but Richt didn't

Cue the silly season for college football coaches.
Les Miles survived the week and will be back for another year; I figure that (a) the powers that be -- meaning the athletic director -- underestimated the fan backlash that would happen if they got rid of The Mad Hatter, and (b) they were probably sending out feelers to some key coach's agents, especially the ones that kept getting rumored (e.g., Jimbo Fisher at FSU) and found that nobody was biting, so they'd end up with a less-than-nameworthy coach instead. In other words, common sense prevailed.
What did surprise me is the news this morning that Mark Richt has stepped down (if you believe UGa's official sources) or been fired (if you believe everyone else).

I know it seemed that every year that he seemed to be on some kind of hot seat or another, especially when he lost a big game (meaning any time they lost to Bama), but he's been there for 15 years, had a 145-51 record, and the fifth-highest win percentage among (currently) active coaches. But.... the last SEC Championship was 10 years ago (they were 2-3 in SEC CGs), and despite a 9-3 record this year, only beat one top-tier team with a winning record. Once their top running back (one that UGa alum and Heisman Trophy winner Hershel Walker said was better than he was) got hurt mid-season, the offense looked totally lost, and struggled thereafter.
He will coach in the bowl game, so he might have his tenth season with 10 or more wins in it.
