He gave up his DL today, before he was told to. He realized that his eyesight and physical challenges of some TIA's could cause an accident, and that he could hurt someone.
I told him I was very impressed with his self-awareness.
He then advised me that I would be doing lots more driving

LOL and that he had made an appointment with his mechanic to fully tune my car and put on new tires....

That's tough to do. I'm proud of him, too. And for getting your car ready for you......still doing those "dad" things for his little girl.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

Yes, as he pointed out, the amount of driving him around will require new treads. and he likes to spoil me

Don't know what Big J's schedule is like, but this sounds like an excellent opportunity to do some bonding with Grandpa!
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.

This is a cool way for him to make a better thing out of a bad situation.
Good for him.
(My Dad eventually stopped driving at night, & on highways. So he got rearended so hard he lost consciousness for a while by a hit-&-runner on a city street. Anyway. He probably wasn't wearing a seatbelt, which wasn't mandatory at the time.)
