First Cancellation of TV Season

It took nearly two months, but the first official cancellation of the fall TV season has occurred. ABC has pulled the plug on
Wicked City a crime drama set in 1980s LA after three episodes (the fourth episode, scheduled for tonight, will be replaced by
Shark Tank). The show was a fictionalized version of the Sunset Strip Killers of that era, a boyfriend/girlfriend team who killed several women in Los Angeles during that time period. If the show had continued, producers said future seasons would focus on different famous crimes.
Although not officially cancelled, several other series have had their orders reduced and will undoubtedly just burn off the remaining episodes.

Looks like
The Player is on its last legs. It looked interesting, but I never made the time to watch it. Now I think I'm glad I didn't. I hate to get into a new story only to have it ripped away unfinished. --Bob

Only new shows I am watching are The Muppets, Supergirl...love me those comic book heroes, what can I say...and Quantico. Quantico has got its hooks in me even though its weekly turn-on-a-dime character reveals have my head spinning...pretty sure Professor Irwin Corey is head writer.
Could be, as I just looked him up before writing this, and was flabbergasted to find out that he's still with us, at the age of 101. Well done, sir and I hope I haven't doomed you by posting this.
Just in case, feel free to substitute the equally confusing Casey Stengel, who is beyond any posting curse, for the Professor.

I expect them to run a disclaimer at the end of each episode, "any similarity between the organization portrayed on this television show and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is purely coincidental.

I watch Blue Bloods and Fargo religiously. Other than that, I can take or leave any other show.
I'm waiting impatiently for the new season of Better Call Saul to arrive.

The Player, like
Blood and Oil and
Minority Report will apparently just burn through their remaining episodes between now and Christmas and then never be heard from again until May when they are on the lists of shows not renewed.
It doesn't make sense for the networks to premiere a new show now, then have a break of several weeks and then come back after the new year. So, they'll use what's left of these series to fill space among all the holiday specials. Once these series got past 2-3 episodes, it actually made financial sense to reduce the episode order and burn off rather than officially cancel.
Wicked City never made it past the third episode since it didn't premiere until the end of October so the logistics were different.
