Youngest Spock is in 7th Grade and in Junior High Knowledge Bowl.
Earlier this fall, they had a practice round or tryout or whatever in English class.
Mrs. Spock got an email from the teacher that said for it to be really fair-It should be the whole class against "Youngest Spock."
There are a lot Junior High teams and in a recent practice his team (really him) got 42 points-the next closest got 28 and down from there.
The coach made a point of noting that Teams 2-6 were only separated by 6 points. obviously Team 1 was way out in front.
He has his first contest next Monday and is really looking forward to it.

Me and Littlest Spock had fun the other night. There are 3 sections of 7th graders and there is a tradition on the night of Parent-Teacher Conferences that the the junior high knowledge bowlers and their parents-play a round of knowledge bowl (45 questions) by section.
Not all the kids show up and Littlest Spock's section had the most so we moved ourselves to another section.
We won 26 to 13 to 2. Littlest Spock was a little torqued that the other team got 13-but that was mainly due to being beaten at the buzzer.
I impressed Littlest Spock on how much I knew (not that it does any good in the real world).
His favorite answer that I came up with was for this question. :"Eastward flowing streams in Ecuador, Columbia"-Buzz in-answer "Amazon". I impressed him on that one.
My personal favorite question was "According to Continental Drift theory, Angola used to border what country"-Answer "Brazil"
We were talking about that question after and I said something about how Angola and Brazil have matching oil deposits under the subsalt (or some such) and that was how I got it. i think I lost him at that point.
The coach (or whatever) got a kick out my answer for "name one of 2 countries that have the Gobi Desert." I said "Mongolia" and he said "You had to pick the hardest one."
I really need to find a trivia outlet again-NTN or something online-I don't knw.

I first read that as "junior high-knowledge bowlers" and thought, "that's an awfully elitist league." Ha!
