The ACC has suspended all of the on-field officials and the replay officials for blowing calls and poor communication on what was ruled an 8-lateral kickoff return for a touchdown. The replay official should have ruled the play dead because the fourth lateral didn't occur until the runner's knee was down. The on-field officials should have called a dead ball foul because a Miami receiver left the sidelines and was on the field before the play ended. They also should have called an illegal block in the back at the Miami 16-yard line.
The ACC also announced that the flag that was thrown, at the Duke 26-yard line, was appropriately picked up, but they blame the referee for not appropriately communicating why it was picked up. Having watched the video linked above, I don't see the issue here. --Bob
