Congrats, Royals. Is this going to happen EVERY 30 years?

I don't think the any Mets players will be taking home any of that hardware either, so that's kind of a dumb sign...

I also find it funny that despite all those fan protests in 2000 or so (Why is Google Images failing me to find a picture of Royals fans turning their backs on the Yankees?), the Royals and Yankees have now won the same number of championships in the (real) 21st Century.

I also can't help but recall how a decade ago, KC voters had two proposals on the ballot... one for renovating Kauffman, and one for renovations to Arrowhead. Despite the Chiefs being the more consistent winner (and the added bonus of a promised Super Bowl if it passed), the Chiefs got shot down while the Royals were voted through. KC loves its baseball team... even if it did stink for 20 years...

The sign is quoting Jonny Gomes:

I think he's talking about the ALDS and ALCS.

(Note: I tried to look up who won these awards, but they haven't been given out yet! But pundits are predicting they'll go to Astros and Blue Jays players.)

Ahhhh, well, it would certainly apply there.

While I obviously didn't hear the Gomes speech, I found it funny the most talked about speaker was someone who wasn't at any point on the postseason roster (Yet Raul A. Mondesi was!?!?!)

Speaking of roster fillers, how about Drew Butera lucking into posterity by being the catcher who got to run out to the mound to celebrate the final out...

Interesting fact:

In the history of MLB playoffs, a team had never come back from a deficit of 4 or more runs, eighth inning or later, in an elimination game.

Royals now have done it twice in 2 years -- 2014 wild card game and Fame 4 of ALDS.

Despite the comments about Homes, it has been interesting to hear the stories of his effect on the younger players.

The stories of the preparations and scouting that paid dividends in the late game heroics also have shown how the little things lead to big rewards.

After 30 years, you would think that Cardinals fans would accept the actual facts:

- Dane Iorg drove in the tying and winning runs with one out.

- Orta was neither of those runs. So, at worst, the Royals would have scored the tying run with two outs.

- Todd Worrell pitched terrible in that 9th inning. He could not find the stike zone starting with Balboni. Better odds that Sundberg reaches base with hit or walk, if he did not have to sacrifice bunt. So, Iorg still likely drives in two.

- Worst case is that the Royals would have had 1st and 3rd with two outs (if Sundberg got out), tied game, top of the order coming up.

- Why not blame Jack Clark for his inability to catch foul ball off of Balboni, which really is what caused Worrell to unravel.
