Still in the early stages, but director Len Wiseman, who helmed Die Hard 4 has signed on. It would be set in 1979 with the John McClane character, played by a younger actor, as a New York cop. If Bruce Willis signs on, they will include some present day material as well, tied into the earlier storyline. No word on casting, but it would be interesting if they got Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's got experience playing Willis.

I love the original Die Hard with Alan Rickman and Live Free or Die Hard with Justin Long and Timothy Olyphant. Maggie Q and Mary Elizabeth Winstead did super jobs with their roles too. The special effects -- wow! McClane knocking down a helicopter with a car! And a busted fire hydrant knocking a bad guy out of another helicopter! OK, OK, totally impossible. I still loved it.

I liked Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance, but not as much as those two.

I haven't seen A Good Day to Die Hard and won't go out of my way to do so. It won't have Alan Rickman in it, nor the technology of Live Free or Die Hard. Based on limited info, I'm really looking forward to 6. How is McClane still alive after how many times he's been shot and otherwise damaged? I read that Willis sustained a real injury when Maggie Q accidentally kicked him in the head with one of those stiletto heels -- so convenient for kung fu type fighting, as one critic pointed out . . . I don't care.

So, we'll find out if McClane is still kicking and whether he's still taking on bad guys. I'm hoping for a flashback type of plot.

Only if Willis signs onto the project. In which case, the question will be whether he does a Saving Private Ryan bookend or something more substantial that actually wraps up the earlier storyline with real present day action.
