I thought things were weird when we went into the third commercial so abruptly and returned with 10 minutes left in the show. Suddenly it made sense.

$7k Q: Ask the Audience

$10k: +1 to be sure

$20k: Easier than the previous two, surprisingly. Might have used 50/50 to be sure, though.

$30k: After a headache and a half I figured this out too.

I'd probably be at the $50k question with my extra help still available. Hopefully Susie Lu is able to make it to the top tier tomorrow.

It's nice that they want to help college students with tuition and such, but I don't like the extra lifeline. They should play the game as is.

If Albert Stamm can take as long as he did to answer the presidents question on Friday's show, she should have spent the time to count them out without wasting the lifeline.

Her hometown makes her a local contestant, as far my WSYR viewing area is concerned. And she's even more local, now that the semester has started! 8)

Congrats on getting your shot on the show, Susie. But excuse me if I'm not entirely enthusiastic for the rest of this post.

Wow. This question would have been wicked, if they'd asked it during the era of TDC. Now, it's merely incredibly annoying, since it doesn't require any more knowledge than how to recite the pledge. The only demanding part of it was having to count the letters on-air.

But, since Susie did have all the time she needed to work this out, it's really inexcusable that she burnt two of her lifelines on this. For a long time at the beginning of the question, her "extra help" Josh wasn't even saying anything! She was just using him as an extra pair of hands while she counted on her fingers!

He did help her with a couple of the words of the pledge, but there was a generous safety margin built into the format of the question, in case she had made a few mistakes along the way.

Agreed. They've already been given the gift of a special theme week.

During her deliberation, Susie added an 'a' to the final choice, pronounced it like "aria", and went with that choice, saying that it sounded like it might be a word.

So far the students have really irked me with their knowledge gaps. The ones who didn't have big gaps, & for whom I was rooting, took fliers when they shouldn't have & crashed. OK, week isn't over yet.

Haven't seen most posted, so will start with Susie:

10K: I'm betting on D in this goofily worded Q, even though I'm not entirely sure how many HP films there were.

30K: Why did she not just grit her teeth & count?! She used up lifeline & counted anyway.

Pardon me, she used up 2 lifelines. Inexcusable.
