Looks like a little shock therapy kicked some sense into his caucus. Now House Republicans are saying they won't shut down the government. --Bob

He's resigning in order to spend more time with his bronzer.

He's a Catholic and is who invited the Pope to speak to Congress. The Pope touched his shoulder and asked Boehner to pray for him. Maybe, just maybe, Boehner had a crisis of conscience. If so that counts as a miracle.

You are a big idiot if you think any of these articles is anything but left wing fanatic propaganda. Just look at their headings and the writing in them. Can't you see it just reeks of bullshit? C'mon, give me a break.

Let's see. The first story, from RIght Wing Watch, has as its source an actual radio interview that Gohmert gave with Washington Watch, that was reported on the website of the Family Research Council. I guess leftwing hackers commandeered the FRC's site to promote their fanatic progaganda.

The Infowars article is based on a column Gohmert himself wrote in the Highland County Press.
When the federal government begins, even in practice, games or exercises, to consider any U.S. city or state in "hostile" control and trying to retake it, the message becomes extremely calloused and suspicious.

Such labeling tends to make people who have grown leery of federal government overreach become suspicious of whether their big brother government anticipates certain states may start another civil war or be overtaken by foreign radical Islamist elements which have been reported to be just across our border.

Such labeling by a government that is normally not allowed to use military force against its own citizens is an affront to the residents of that particular state considered as hostile, as if the government is trying to provoke a fight with them.
I'll agree with you Flock that the Raw Story article is based on a highly dubious source, Gohmert's own web page. It's extremely possible that he engages his mouth without his brain realizing what he's saying so perhaps it's unfair to treat comments that appear on that site as being in any way his. But be that as it may, let me give you a quote:
"Founders and leaders including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and most all of the Presidents have noted that it is God who has been the source of this nation’s unfathomable blessings. But if Moses, Jesus, and contributors to the Bible were correct, God’s hand of protection will be withdrawn as future actions from external and internal forces will soon make clear. I will do all I can to prevent such harm, but I am gravely fearful that the stage has now been set.
The left wing has its share of idiots as well. The big difference is that the right wing seems to be extremely proud of its idiots and loves promoting and distributing every idiotic thing they say.

It's entertaining to see the liberals baselessly insult any non Democrat candidate. They are searching for a negative image to project for each one. It's easy with Trump. The Repub leadership is working with the Dems to brand him. It's difficult for Ben Carson. SSS calls him an idiot, but then is corrected by BJ. Can't call him an idiot because he is African American. So we need to say he's intelligent but crazy. Yeah., that's the ticket.

This coming from a party who's main candidate is a serial liar with many self inflicted scandals, who has accomplished nothing in her public career besides having a famous last name, and who's campaign is on the verge of collapse. Their next choice is an ancient socialist who has spent decades in the Senate being anonymous, and the third choice is an affable chap who can't open his mouth without saying something stupid or inappropriate. And he isn't even in the race.

Flock,
You owe me a new irony meter.
Bob, tell me one thing I've stated that is baseless.
1. Has Hillary been caught in blatant lies more than once? I think so.
2. Just for one, she has admitted that she made the wrong decision to have her own email server. Because she only wanted to have one device, even though she's been photographed with several. Every day there's a different story. Self Inflicted.
3. Name me one accomplishment. Even she can't.
4. Bernie is older than Reagan was. Dems made a big deal about that if I recall. He has been in the back benches of the Senate for as long as I can remember. And he calls himself a socialist.
5. Tell me I'm wrong about Biden.

At least I am more specific than calling everyone an idiot or a clown in general. You may disagree with what the meaning of 'Is' is, but my criticisms are not baseless. I am not really interested in trading insults about candidates, but that is apparently the level of debate these days. (see above).

If you had an irony meter, it must be set at a very high level to have the beliefs that you have stated.

Now, I know that Republicans, whose idea of foreign relations consists solely of threatening and blustering against anyone they think is evil, may find it hard to believe, but Hillary was quite effective as Secretary of State (see how effective their strategy was in Iraq and Afghanistan). Here's what Fox commentator Leslie Marshall said:
As our secretary of state, Clinton visited 112 countries, helping to repair a badly damaged U.S. reputation. She advocated an expanded role in global economic issues for the State Department and cited the need for an increased U.S. diplomatic presence, especially in Iraq, where the Defense Department had conducted diplomatic missions. Clinton unveiled the Global Hunger and Food Security program, prevailed over Vice President Biden to send an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan, saved the signing of a Turkish-Armenian accord, and assisted the president with major decisions as to the U.S. position with regard to the revolution in Egypt and the decision to use military force in Libya.
http://www.usnews.com/opinion/leslie-ma ... themselves

Another view on Hillary:

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/04/13 ... -have-any/

Keep in mind that the Secretary of State doesn't have the final word in foreign affairs unless the President effectively abdicates that responsibility (which has happened). He or she can't commit troops or impose economic sanctions or approve treaties and other agreements. So, Hillary did what she could, and even Henry Kissinger praised her effectiveness.

You are either not serious, or you are blind.
Clinton visited 112 countries, helping to repair a badly damaged U.S. reputation
It's great she visited so many countries. If the number of countries a SoS visits determines how effective they are, then she's number 1. But I don't view that as an accomplishment. How much did that cost us taxpayers, and what did we get in return? How many of those countries donated to the Clinton Foundation?
I don't happen to share your opinion that our reputation overseas has benefitted one bit from anything she or Obama have done. The farce of Putin masquerading as a champion of human rights yesterday is evidence of how far we have slipped in the eyes of the world.

And as usual, you're basing your opinion on what your handlers at Fox News think rather than any actual facts. Here's survey results from Pew, one of the most widely respected public opinion pollsters, measuring popularity of the U.S. in various foreign countries during this century. Here's some salient numbers:

France: 42% favorable in 2008, 75% in 2014.
Germany: 30%/51%
Spain: 33%/60%
UK: 53%/66%
South Korea: 58%/82%
Indonesia: 37%/59%
Mexico: 47%/63%

You would think that Israel would really have a lower opinion of the U.S. under this administration considering all the horrible things we're doing to them and how your buddies Limbaugh and Hannity get in a tizzy every time they think about it but that doesn't seem to be the case either. The U.S. was already held in high regard in Israel (78% favorable in 2007; there are no 2008 figures) but that's increased to 84%.

Not surprisingly, the main country in which U.S. popularity has dropped under Obama is Russia.

I've also got the 2015 figures here, but there's no year by year comparison so you'll have to do some flipping back and forth.

You don't think this had anything to do with the diplomatic efforts Hillary Clinton made to try to repair the damage that Bush caused? But the Republicans want to go right back to the Bush playbook and thumb their noses at those 112 countries Hillary visited because it makes Republicans feel good to threaten to bomb the daylights out of countries if they don't do what we want.

But facts don't interest you Flock. You've got your opinions, unsupported as they may be.
