Talking about it with a friend of mine, and we were curious.

When was the last time a player was three questions from a million (so $100,000 or $125,000) with all of their lifelines intact? I have a sneaking suspicion it has never happened on the syndicated show.

What's the farthest any player on the syndicated show has gone without using a single lifeline?

Don't count Ken Basin here. He made it to $250,000 with three out of four lifelines remaining, and that was on ABC.

There was a hyperactive woman of Asian descent from New York whose name escapes me. I think she had all of her lifelines after $100,000 and missed a $250,000 question about astronomy. --Bob

I remember a contestant during the 2008-2009 season movie week made it to $100,000 with all his lifelines intact. He then used the Double Dip as insurance on the $250k question, which proved to be a mistake as he burned through his other lifelines on the $500k question which narrowed it down to two options, and despite being extremely tempted to go for it he walked away.

Every contestant so far this week on the Double Run episodes has missed either the $20k or $30k question and left with $5,000. If tomorrow's player(s) leave with either $5,000 or less that week will have the lowest peak win in syndicated Millionaire history. Also, if neither player walks away tomorrow, that will also be the first week in syndicated Millionaire history in which not a single player bailed out.

Isn't it a bit odd that right after Zach departs us, a new member calling himself "Coupon Boy" appears and seems to know a lot about game show lore?

Of course we won't know for sure until either someone famous dies or cigars get passed out.

I don't think that's very fair. There's nothing in his two posts that's indicative of a Zach sockpuppet. And believe me, if one comes along, you'll see it from a mile away.

I hope we don't fall into a rut of accusing all new members of being Zach just because they happen to have a bit of obscure knowledge.

It appeared to me that ZH was banned from this board because of things he did elsewhere. His posts here didn't seem all that egregious, standing on their own. Maybe just one or two cigar posts over the limit. I'm not aware of anything else.

He was probably using the Bored's Private Messages to harass people, too.

Or that Coupon Boy's mixed case sentences were perfectly capitalized.

That number may well be north of 100 by now.

And someone who tries dozens of times to get back on a board from which he's been banned just might have one or two aliases stashed away in case he might get banned again.

The current lag time is the difference between when they first register and whenever I get an email in my inbox from that person wondering why they haven't been approved yet. A few people see the notice I put in the Bored Reference Thread a few years ago and email me right away, but usually, it comes via them responding anywhere from a few days to a few weeks later to the Bored_Monitor email that's supposed to go out to new registrations wanting to know when the hell we're going to let them in. Because of all the spam, and my unwillingness to wade through hundreds of fake accounts PER DAY, this place has pretty much become a pseudo-GC... no email, no approval. It also gives me a tool to do a little quick and dirty look on Google to ensure the new registrant is a real person with a past internet history before I do approve them...

...........history has officially been made in the Double Run episodes.

The first today made it all the way to the $50,000 thanks to educated guesses but she fell for the trap answer on that question and left with $5,000. The second player then completely llamaed out on the $5,000 thanks to not knowing where the wish-bone is in a chicken. To top it all off, the Thousandaire question was answered incorrectly as well.

That week has now set a new record for the lowest peak win in a week ($5,000) and the first week in the history of syndicated Millionaire that every contestant answered a question incorrectly.

My question was to SSS, since he thinks he's an expert on the registration process. You have confirmed, though, that a 3-week lag between registration and posting is quite possible, and even probable, on the Bored.

Also, I understand that The Banned One now lives in Florida. As a moderator, I can see that unless Coupon Boy is spoofing a URL, he posts from a different part of the country.

Moreover, the writing "voice" is simply different and I really doubt that The Banned One is a good enough writer to pull that off. --Bob
