Hotty Toddy

Had a great weekend traveling to Oxford, MS to visit our freshman. We had beautiful weather for football and as predicted Ole Miss kicked Fresno State's butt.

Got to experience tailgating at The Grove and met up with lilclyde54 at his tent. We met once before back in 2002 at the Jackson auditions and it was fun to catch up and talk.

A&M plays in Oxford this year, but I won't be able to attend as we spent all our travel budget on this trip. But I extended him an invitation to come to A&M next year to experience Kyle Field when A&M plays Mississippi. Ole Miss has tailgating in The Grove, A&M has Midnight Yell Practice. This past Friday over 50,000 folks attended the first Midnight Yell in the newly renovated stadium.

Did you drive? That's a nine-hour trip.

We had a great time having BiT & Mrs. BiT as guests at the Lauderdale Rebel Club tents in The Grove this weekend. I hope that we can do it again a time or two over the next four years. I know that they know they have a standing invitation anytime they can get to Oxford. We had a lot of fun Saturday and hope that they did too.

No. We flew to Memphis and drove the rest of the way (1 hour).

I've driven twice to Oxford this year (my wife three times including the two I drove). The drive is O.K. going, coming back is the worst part.

And you have to save some travel budget for the Penn Relays in April. :D

My granddaughter, McCall, is a freshman at Ole Miss. It has broken our hearts here in Auburn, but she's always been a free spirit.

Like us, and you, I guess each family has one true Rebel child.

Was McCall the granddaughter we met back in January (or was it February)?

Yes it was, BiT. She is at the game in Tuscaloosa tonight and quite happy right now.

Very funny, LB. It's bad enough she's at Ole Miss. If she chose Bama, that would have been unforgivable! Bama is actually quite easy to get in. Auburn's score requirements are much higher. :)

He's 36. Just got married about a month ago.

Looks like SHM's favorite guest is still living the high life! Was The Chapster the best man?

Kay, you would have loved the Bama v. Auburn dialogue in my play!

Kay if you come visit your daughter in Oxford on a ballgame weekend, you are more than welcome to stop by The Lauderdale Rebel Club tent. We love guests.

IF I get to one game. Oxford is 5 hours away. That's asking for a lot.

I wish Oxford was only 5 hours away. :(

Kay, did you see this?

Police Department Trolls Harvey Updyke Following Ole Miss Win

Too funny. I love a police department with a sense of humor.

Do tell. That'd be a most interesting read.

(One of the advantages in being from Alabama, but not living in Alabama is that I don't have to hear it every day. Hell, I still keep hearing folks saying "Punt Bama Punt" [the 1972 equivalent of the Kick Six game], even four decades later.)

Well, it's kind of on the risque side. (Actually, it's pretty dirty.....)
