Hope you found your Grand Slam.Bob Juch wrote:My Geeks Who Drink trivia team played as "For No Trump" last night.
I hardly play anymore, but I don't think I ever remember that being a contract.Pastor Fireball wrote:Always a winning contract.Bob Juch wrote:My Geeks Who Drink trivia team played as "For No Trump" last night.
I'm sure there's some convention out there where 4NT is a viable contract. Usually you're right though. 4NT is either a bid asking how many aces your partner has, or an invitation to a 6NT contract. It should never be passed if your partner knows what he is doing.ToLiveIsToFly wrote:I hardly play anymore, but I don't think I ever remember that being a contract.Pastor Fireball wrote:Always a winning contract.Bob Juch wrote:My Geeks Who Drink trivia team played as "For No Trump" last night.
Not correct. Not close to correct. It's sometimes natural and invitational. Sometimes you're bailing out of a slam try sequence. I've played my share of 4NT contracts and I can assure you that my partners and I know what we're doing. --BobK.P. wrote:I'm sure there's some convention out there where 4NT is a viable contract. Like I said, I'm sure there was a convention out there somewhere. Just if you play with an arbitrary partner, 99% of the time 4NT is getting answered with 5 somethings.Bob78164 wrote:Not correct. I haven't played in over 40 years but IIRC there are many different conventions that use 4NT but the 5-something responses can have different meanings. Therefore you and your partner had better be on the same one.K.P. wrote:Like I said, I'm sure there was a convention out there somewhere. I hope you trademarked the name. There's a group of establishment Republicans who may want to use it.Bob Juch wrote:My Geeks Who Drink trivia team played as "For No Trump" last night.
