My Geeks Who Drink trivia team played as "For No Trump" last night.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I'm sure there's some convention out there where 4NT is a viable contract. Usually you're right though. 4NT is either a bid asking how many aces your partner has, or an invitation to a 6NT contract. It should never be passed if your partner knows what he is doing.

Not correct. Not close to correct. It's sometimes natural and invitational. Sometimes you're bailing out of a slam try sequence. I've played my share of 4NT contracts and I can assure you that my partners and I know what we're doing. --Bob

Like I said, I'm sure there was a convention out there somewhere. Just if you play with an arbitrary partner, 99% of the time 4NT is getting answered with 5 somethings.

I haven't played in over 40 years but IIRC there are many different conventions that use 4NT but the 5-something responses can have different meanings. Therefore you and your partner had better be on the same one.
