How is Dub doing with the water fountain?

I think that I mentioned that Lucy, the most timid of my cats, had issues with the fountain because of the noise. I turned it off for a couple of days so that she could get used to having it as a water source. (I also made sure to close all of the toilets because she likes to drink out of the toilets.)

When I turned the fountain back on, she had grown used to drinking from it, so the noise didn't seem to bother her as much.

Oh, yeah, you were on TV last night too!

He LOVES it!

I also left it unplugged for a few days. The instructions said your pet may sensibly be concerned about this new thing. He was gunshy anyway, from being picked up and made to eat pills, so I wanted a way to let him work up to it on his own time.

He started drinking from it instead of the old bowl, and then I removed the old bowl, and then I turned on the motor. Now he goes out of his way to drink from the stream, and I like having the sound of a fountain, so everybody wins.

Yeah for Dub! I'm glad that it's working out for him. What model did you end up buying?

I got the basic Drinkwell for $45 at PetSmart.

That's the same model that I have. I liked the fact that there is a water reservoir that you can buy, but I decided, after using the product that I wasn't going to get it. It might make me lazy about watching the water level and it's just something else that has to be cleaned.

I think the water reservoir would be most useful if you had to leave kitties alone for a few days. Or if you had that many cats.

I have three cats and I seem to fill up the water dish every other day.

You think this will work for a cat who only wants water out of MY bathroom sink? He gets scared if you make too much noise putting food in his bowl. I just may make a trip to the pet store this weekend.

You should try it. Try using the fountain as directed. If the flowing water scares your cat, leave the water fountain off for a couple of days let him get used to the bowl. Once he's used to it, turn it back on and he should drink out of it.
