2022 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee will vote on Friday to choose the host city for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Only two cities submitted bids and lots of folks are pretty unimpressed by the options.
The candidate cities are Beijing, China and Almaty, Kazakstan.
Beijing would be the first city to host both a summer and winter games, although the mountain venues will be very, very far away accessible by a newly constructed bullet train.
Almaty recently hosted the Asian Winter Games and their facilities have passed muster with the IOC.
This election will take only one vote and it will result in the third consecutive winter Olympics to be held in Asia (Sochi, Pyeongchang and 2022). Not to mention that the 2020 Summer Olympics will be held in Tokyo.
The exorbitant cost of staging the Sochi games as well as the ludicrous requirements by the IOC have (rightly) scared away bidders.
The election will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Friday although I am unaware of the exact time.
