Actor Dick Van Patten who starred in the hit TV show Eight is Enough, died at the age of 86, a representative said Tuesday. http://shout.lt/6lBM

He was also the co-founder of Natural Balance Pet Food company in 1989

His entire family is also in show business. His sister Joyce was one of the rare female villains on Columbo, while half-brother Tim is a rather prolific TV director and appeared on the TV series The White Shadow. Van Patten's three sons have also done some acting as well and two of them were tennis pros.

Of course, one of them (Vince) has since become a prominent poker player and commentator. He's still doing the World Poker Tour (now on FOX Sports).

I didn't know this until I read his obituary in the Los Angeles Times but he also made a ton of money by founding, and ultimately selling, Natural Balance Pet Foods. --Bob
