Exciting weeks ahead

Finally on holidays, 3 weeks, and heading to Ontario for 2 of them.

First reason is a 50th wedding anniversary party for an aunt and uncle, with about 100 of my close extended family expected.

Second reason, is to finally meet my birth siblings. We have been emailing back and forth, and they live fairly close to where I will be staying.

My birth sister, Margaret is 6 years younger than me, and my birth brother Steve is 12 years younger. Steve only learned about me last month, when Margaret was finally able to get him alone to talk. We are meeting for lunch, no other plans yet as I think we all want to see how it goes first.

I won't post any news on EFB, as my family knows nothing about this meeting.

That IS exciting! I hope it all works out well and you and your siblings develop some great (long past due) relationships.

I can't imagine how that must feel. Good luck. I hope it goes well. --Bob

Best of luck. I suspect as well as hope it will work out fine in the long run, though there may be awkward moments at 1st.

You've highlit one of the worst features of EFB; you can't have discussions you want to have because of the "everyone can read" nature. Even among friends & family you have stuff you may not want everyone to read.

Apparently you aren't aware you can select a targeted subset of your friends. e.g. Family, Friends except Acquaintances, etc.

Anything posted on the internet has at least some potential of being seen by anyone else. Including here. Specifying the recipients probably helps, but it's not foolproof.

BJ:

Can't quote your remark 'cause I'm on tablet; I know how to but on tablet its an hour-long chore & even then rarely works.

At any rate: Of course I know you can exclude people via settings on FB. I'm not convinced those always work, or that FB won't change permissions w/o your permission; they have in the past.

anyway, Saucy in this case would have to create a FB group from which many in her family were excluded, which she clearly does not want to do.

I've got sibs and a father out there that I've never met and probably can't find--I know a name, that's it. I can imagine how excited you must be--go for it with great expectations, don't sweat it if it isn't a huge kumbaya moment, and be proud of yourself for doing this.
