This makes me angry

The H-1B visa program is intended to help employers bring in workers from overseas if they need a special skill they cannot find in the pool of available American workers. But it will come as a surprise to no one that corporate greed has found a way to abuse the system. Disney has laid off 250 IT workers and is replacing them with foreign workers for no reason other than they can pay them less. And to add insult to injury the workers being laid off had to train their replacements.

This is not some struggling company on the verge of bankruptcy we are talking about. This is %$#!ing Disney. And 250 people have lost their jobs (some will find other jobs, but many of the ones over 40 will find out their IT careers are over) because an already giant company simply wanted more.

Disney is not the only one. Fossil, a company that sells crappy watches, wallets, etc., has done the same thing and so have other companies. Some employers say they need more visas because “there are not enough skilled workers in the US,” which is the biggest crock of bullshit I have ever heard. The only “skill” they are looking for is the ability to live on low wages.

If I'm not mistaken, my friend Don Rosa drew that picture.

I'm sure they can still find jobs at Disney sweeping up or flipping burgers at the Magic Kingdom.

You are not alone in your anger. I don't see how any honest politician can support this policy (thinking I may have answered my own question).

I find this practice despicable.
