Dwayne Johnson to lead Big Trouble in Little China remake
Big Trouble in Little China
Posted June 1 2015 — 7:05 PM EDT
It’s okay, Kurt Russell. Getting replaced by The Rock isn’t a dishonor by any stretch of the imagination—especially after San Andreas raked in almost $115 million worldwide for his best opening weekend ever. Dwayne Johnson is currently in talks to star in and produce a remake of the John Carpenter classic Big Trouble in Little China, EW has confirmed. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who wrote the sleek X-Men: First Class, are attached to pen the script. The Wrap first reported the development.
Naturally, Johnson would play Jack Burton, a trucker lured into the seedy, magical underworld in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The original, which starred Russell and Kim Cattrall, grossed a meek $11 million at the box office, but has become retroactively beloved.

Hollywood has never understood that some movies are so bad they are classics, and should never be remade.
Big Trouble in Little China is one of those.

This story surprised me: Award-winning director Robert Eggers wants to remake Nosferatu. Nothing wrong with that, but hasn't every vampire movie since 1922 been, in a way, a remake of Nosferatu?

I always found the great irony that almost all copies of the original
Nosferatu were confiscated and burned because Bram Stoker's estate claimed it was a copyright infringement -- but in reality the copyright had already expired in the US, and was thus unenforceable here.

There's already been a good movie made about the making of that film,Shadow of the Vampire, with Oscar-nominated Willem Dafoe as actor Max Schreck and John Malkovich as director F. W. Murnau. I honestly can't see this being better or more interesting.

They're also remaking
Ghostbusters, no, not the all woman version, a new one with all men.

A blurb on Facebook says Bud Bundy himself, David Faustino, wants to revive Married with Children.

A remake of the guys with the Proton Packs that lived in a firehouse, or a remake of the one with Tracy the Gorilla?

Here's a remake I'll go see:
Ronda Rousey to Star in MGM’s ‘Road House’ Reboot
(She'll have to fight slower than usual, or the movie will be a short.)

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, hell no.
Road House is the greatest B-movie of all time. No if's, and's, or but's.
You can't improve perfection. You can only destroy it.
Patrick Swayze - Perfection
Kelly Lynch - Perfection
Sam Elliott - Perfection
Ben Gazzara - Perfection
The Jeff Healey Band - Perfection
Terry Funk - Perfection
Red West - Pefection
Kevin Tighe - Perfection
Never have there been so many perfectly cast actors. Never have there been so many great lines of dialogue ("be nice" "you're too stupid to have a good time" "opinions vary" "I thought you'd be bigger") Never have there been so many great fights. Never have there been such spicy romantic scenes. Never has there been such great music.
All in the same movie.
I like Ronda Rousey and she has a future in acting. But not this movie.
