I met a new old friend!

Me and Bebe met Mr. Marley today! He used to be one of my very best friends I'd never met, but now I've met him, so he's a very best friend I really know! He gives excellent head scritches.

I accidentally scratched him with my pointy toenails that I've been super-sharpening to use against that horrible possum critter that dances on the back fence. I felt terrible about that, but I will get that possum to get revenge. I tried to introduce Mr. Marley to Evil Squirrel, too, but ES wouldn't come down from his nest. He's like that sometimes.

I can report that Mr. Marley is very tall and very nice and does not look one bit like a ghost. He told me that he likes me best when I am sitting down with a stuffed toy in my mouth. That must be when I look cutest or something. I can't imagine any other reason.

He is driving across the country from New York to California to go to his nephew's graduation. He had to hurry away, though, because he wanted to get away from the thunderstorms that were coming in this direction. BeBe would have liked to get away from those storms, too, so we didn't tell her that he was leaving. I wouldn't have missed her all that much, but I think my mom would have been grumpy about it.

I finally made it to California, today!

Now that I'm not driving and/or hiking hundreds of miles a day, maybe I'll be able to catch up on what's been happening on the Bored.

MarleysNephew graduates from high school on Thursday. That event is the primary motivation for this trip, although there's been a heck of a lot of sightseeing on the drive out, with more to come when I start heading home.

Take a southern route on your return. I need some help at pub quiz!

Wouldn't he need to be driving the Mach 5 so he could handle the underwater portion of the route?

Seriously- I hope all our Southwestern friends are doing well and drying out.

I was considering that route for the trip west, but I decided it was a bit too far out the way. And, as Lizbit said, the monsoon weather in Texas and Oklahoma made me decide to accelerate my journey through those two states. As it was, I still got a taste of flash flooding in Amarillo.

I'll try to post some pictures on Facebook, but a summary of my trip west included the following:
Cleveland Museum of Art
Indiana State Museum
Wilson's Creek Battlefield NP
Oklahoma City Memorial
Visiting Silvercamaro, Lizbit and BeBe
Pecos NHP
Santa Fe
Petroglyph NHP
Petrified Forest NP
Grand Canyon NP (south and north rim)
Bryce Canyon NP
Zion NP

I haven't decided on my exact return route, yet, but it will probably be a more northwesterly path. And it will include participating on a five-day dinosaur dig outside of Lusk, Wyoming.

Nice itinerary! BTW, the latest entry on the Democratic side for the presidency is Walter O'Malley, former mayor of Baltimore. He's also a member of a Celtic rock band.

I've been to Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. All very amazing and beautiful places to visit.

If you have time, go to Salt Lake City-BAM is having an audition near there (see road audition thread for info).
