Pit bull's good intentions cause a bad result

#1 Post by jarnon » Thu May 21, 2015 4:31 pm

Infant injured by family dog in Ocean County, NJ

A baby girl, her mother, and the family pet were in their back yard. Mother went inside to get a bottle. The well-meaning dog carried the girl inside after her. Unfortunately, a pit bull's mouth isn't made for transporting a two-month-old baby safely. Baby was flown to the hospital, and hopefully will be OK. What do the Bored's four-footers think about this mishap?

The fact that he dog had leeway to exercise that judgment disturbs me. Labs have soft mouths, yet I wouldn't leave the grandbaby within Dot's mouthshot . You just have to have eyes all over if they're little and beyond. Especially with pitbulls whose jaws are traps.
Oh, and back in the day Elvis the yellow lab thought Pat's four year old fingers were shrimp since Pat had just eaten some. I felt like a derelict and we were lucky he didn't chomp down hard.
Well, then

Also don't understand how the dog had access to a two month old. Wasn't the child in a carrier or playpen?

Apropos of nothing, this is our 50,000th topic on this iteration of the Bored.... which sure doesn't sound like many.
