Wife of Johnny Carson when he began hosting the Tonight Show and later confidante of Truman Capote in his last years. She was also an occasional game and talk show participant in the 60s and 70s. She is responsible for a number of the still existing recordings of the early years of the Tonight Show. Back then, the show was taped over and few episodes or even clips from the early years remain. However, Carson gave her a set of tapes which she kept and later had converted to DVD and released about ten years ago.
