Prince William and Duchess Kate are now the parents of a baby girl. She arrived earlier today in London, weighing in at 8 pounds 3 ounces. Now they have to pick out a name.

I'd love to see Diana in the name, but I'd bet it would not be the 1st name if it appears at all.

I'm not sure what Grampa Chuck would think about having his face licked....

Then again, maybe that's what he saw in Camilla...

Mr. bobjuch must have been predicting, not announcing.
LONDON — Britain's new royal baby now has a name — Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Kensington Palace officials announced the girl's name Monday, two days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge displayed their new arrival to the world.
Princess Charlie Lizbit Didi -- I'm still excited.

BeBe is jealous.

IMHO Kate didn't really have that baby. 2 hours of labor for an 8 lb baby? Leaves the hospital in 10 hours wearing heels, no bloat anywhere and able to walk down stairs carrying the baby with one arm? NOPE. She used a surrogate.

I am psyched that Diana appears in the name, even as a 3rd name.

I of course understand the Elizabeth part. I haven't looked up yet why Charlotte was so popular (polls of wish-listers had it between Charlotte & Alice, I believe), but there it is. Maybe a relative's name on Kate's side?

I hope they call her Chardi, pronounced "Shardi", at home. Which abbreviates to "Di", even if it would be pronounced "Dee".

I wasn't a big Diana fan when she was alive or anything, I just find it sad that she got hounded to death, literally, & never got to see her kids grow up, have babies, the regular human thing.

Oh, OK. The articles are saying "Charlotte" is for grandfather, Charles. Duuhh.

For ghostmjf, here's a history of the royal names Charlotte, Elizabeth and Diana.

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana: why William and Kate made their name choices for the royal baby

It isn't easy to name your baby when your family tree goes back a thousand years.
