Been busy-but, considering that she was conceived (June 2000) on the Bored and just turned 14 on Mar 15-an update on the Spocklette is in order.

Our school is now offering Clay Target shooting as an activity. It is the fastest growing sport in Minnesota" There are about 20 kids in it at our school(maybe a few more) and the Spocklette is the only girl, which doesn't seem to bother her much. Hopefully, she can hit at least one target by the end of the season LOL.

The raw numbers get pretty interesting pretty quick.

According to the league there are about 8,600 kids involved. Each kid shoots 50 shells a week-thus there are about 430,000 rounds fired each week. Assuming a 6 week season-not sure yet exactly, that means about 2,500,000 shells total. With tourneys (or a longer season) and so forth it might get close to 3,000,000 shells. I bought some today for 32 cents a shell-She has a 20-gauge so they might be cheaper than the more common 12-Gauge. Anyway, it amounts to close to $1,000,000 in ammo costs for the season.

Just finished reading "A Canticle for Liebowitz"-dipping my toe into a few of the core sci-fi/fantasy type stuff.

Read "Moby Dick" -kind of trying to decide between War and Peace or some Dostoevsky as my next venture into the 'Literature" genre.
