Trivia Knights X3

Last Saturday the Trivia Knights fielded 3 teams for a trivia event. Tables were limited to 6 people and we had more interested, so TheSearchIsOn, our team captain, divided us up into two teams - the third was made up of one of our members and some of her family. Trivia Knights (team 1) had me, elwing and 4 others, Trivia Knights 2: Electric Boogaloo had TSIO and MsCheesecake and 4 others). It was a hard-fought battle and we hoped that we would have the top 3 teams at the end. However Trivia Knights (my team) finished tied for first while Electric Boogaloo and the out-FOX-ers (the third team) finished out of the money. We lost the tiebreaker, however, which was "How many #1 Billboard hits did Frank Sinatra have?"
We thought it might be a trick question and said zero; the actual answer was 10 and the other team with which we were tied said "4".
The most vexing question of the night, as far as I was concerned, was this:
This 227 minute 1962 Oscar-winning film had no women with speaking parts.
Our team said "The Longest Day" but the correct answer was "Lawrence of Arabia". It turns out that both were released in 1962 and both won Oscars, but Lawrence of Arabia ran 216 minutes (not 227) while The Longest Day ran 178 minutes.

I actually knew the movie Q. Its cited with amazement by those who cite it for this feature.

The annoyance for me is that it came down to running time. We had both answers but went with
The Longest Day
thinking it was longer.

Both films did not win Best Picture in 1962. The Longest Day had some of it's makers receive awards but it was not an Oscar-winning film.

The Longest Day has some female speaking parts. There's at least one French resistance fighter who is female, and I think some other French civilians.

The Larry of Arabia clue was the 3/30/2007 Final J!, which I why I knew the answer. A wrong guess on J! was Ben-Hur, it was a TS there.

I consider any film that wins an Oscar to be an Oscar winning film. It doesn't have to win the Best Picture award to count. American Sniper is an Oscar winning film. Here Wikipedia lists all the Academy Award winning films:

The question didn't specify "best picture". It just said "Oscar-winning".

That realization occurred to me yesterday. There are several women with speaking roles - the resistance fighter you mentioned, Erwin Rommel's wife (saying something about the shoes her husband brought her from Paris for her birthday), a French woman who reacts to her husband's rejoicing over the invasion, and a French woman who reports a paratrooper landing in her yard. I wish I'd remembered those at the time.

You're exactly right. Any film that wins an Academy award for any category is an "Oscar-winning" film, and can add that tag to their movie posters.
