It was controversial that UCLA was even selected for the tournament. Then they won in the first round on a questionable call and got UAB instead of Iowa St. in this round. Now they will face either an average Iowa team or perennially overrated Gonzaga in the next round. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

The call looked good to me. It may not have been goaltending but it was certainly basket interference. --Bob

It probably was the right call. If the ball could have hit the rim it could have gotten the bounce and gone in.

Simpler than that. Part of the ball was above the rim. By rule, that makes the play basket interference. --Bob

ACC 9-0, including a win over an overseeded Villanova team that cost Virginia a Number 1 seed.

I predict the Pac 12 record will get much worse, with at least 3 losses, probably 4. While I also predict the Texas record will not get any worse than it currently is. :P

The ACC will get at least $28 million based on its performance in the tournament, with more possible depending on how far their remaining teams advance. Member teams split the money evenly (I'm not sure whether Syracuse, on probation and ineligible, will get a share or not).

If memory serves, the league got $27 million for Georgia Tech's Orange Bowl appearance.

The SEC only has Kentucky remaining. But that is enough.

The Sweet Sixteen for the men has 2 teams from the Big 10 (Wisconsin and Michigan State), 1 from the SEC (Kentucky), 5 from the ACC (Notre Dame, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke and Louisville), 2 from the Big 12 (Oklahoma and West Virginia), 3 from the Pac 12 (UCLA, Utah and Arizona) and three from minor conferences (Wichita State, Xavier and Gonzaga).

For the women it's 2 from the Big 10 (Iowa and Maryland), 3 from the SEC (South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee), 4 from the ACC (Notre Dame, Duke, Louisville and Florida State), 2 from the Big 12 (Texas and Baylor), 2 from the Pac 12 (Arizona State and Stanford), one from the AAC (Connecticut) and two from minor conferences (Dayton and Gonzaga).

Four teams are still in the running to have men's and women's champions - Louisville, Duke, Gonzaga and Notre Dame.

I predict that after tonight, California will have the same number of teams in the tournament as Texas. :)

And the Pac-12 as many as the SEC.

The ACC will still have 3.

Kentucky will have 2.
