Job roller coaster

This six-month contract gig has been quite a roller coaster.

The original concept was that I was backfilling a job for a person who likely would get another gig within the company. Three months definitely (per the contract), likely six.

The big problem is the company is going through a merger of equals -- which is why they were hiring temps. In fact, one department in this building is 60% temp workers. I'm actually in the odd position of supervising two people (one also a temp).

Anyway, the merging merged, and the lady didn't get the gig. So I was told two weeks ago I'd be gone at the end of March (and that required some approvals from top corporate to not just punt).

Kind of hard to do ongoing work with that sword of Damocles, but I'm a professional, so I churned on.

Then, last week, the lady who didn't get the gig turned in her notice.

So now I'm back to being here until June.

Whew.......
