Easy question IMHO. Texas became a state long before 1868. The U.S acquired the Virgin Islands from Denmark around World War I. Alaska was bought by Seward, Lincoln's Secretary of State, so 1868 sounds right.

Good thinking. Most states have had driving tests in Spanish for years, so an activist wouldn't need to go to court for that right.

Chris observed that "rice" made him think of Japan and fortunately there was only one Japanese manufacturer among the choices.

Q1: I would assume D.

Q2: Like contestant, I linked rice with Japan.

Q4: I didn't know Hawaii was officially bilingual (it figures, as it was an annexed sovereign nation) but I would go for it exams in Spanish & French are available in a few states without going to court for them.
