Well, a lot oft he questions are written by players, and I don't know how much quality control there is.

Not to go all Bill Clinton on you, but depending on how one defines the "end of the Vietnam War," Richard Nixon could certainly be a correct answer in this universe. The fall of Saigon was under Ford, but the last troops came home in 1973, while Tricky Dick was still in office. Since war was never officially declared, I'm not sure how you mark the beginning and the end of it.

Unfortunately, that would be this one. Official cease fire of the Vietnam war was 1-28-73. All U.S. troops were out by the end of the year. Nixon resigned the following summer in '74.

Even if you accept the end of US involvement in that timeframe, just because the US wasn't there doesn't mean the war ended! As much as we like to think so, the world doesn't revolve around us.

Or perhaps one would rather take the word of a Bronze Star recipient of the conflict? I asked my dad when the war ended. "April 1975, fall of Saigon." QED

How was the question worded?

I agree with you, at least generally, that the end of the war should be considered the fall of Saigon. But since the Vietnamese did not call it the Vietnam war, I can see a case for the other interpretation.

I am old enough to remember it, and from the civilian point of view, it was definitely celebrated as the end of a war.

It said who was president when the Vietnam War ended. It did not specify American involvement.

Now later I did get a question asking which American President is credited with bringing an end to the Vietnam War. That's a completely different question and agree that Nixon is the answer to that one.

Try playing "Rick Harrison's Trivia Challenge" on Facebook. I'm at Level 300, which looks like the final level, and now all I get is questions like "Who won 'Arab's Got Talent", questions about BBC shows, really obscure questions about "Glee" and "Breaking Bad". To top it all off, you have to get 10 out of 10 questions right in 60 seconds. Before, sometimes you could get 5 out of 10 to advance. I have 867 coins right now and I have to get to 1,000 to get an autographed picture of Rick. There is a Daily Wheel Spin that gives you extra coins but it might take me over a month to get the rest of the coins I need unless I get real lucky and guess right on some of these oddball questions.

Hmmm, might be beyond me, but I'll check it out!

Today my s-i-l was playing TC, and she was asked where the Washington Monument is. I couldn't believe that one.

I'm pretty good at TC, except when I get weird sports questions I don't know the answers to.

There is more than one Washington Monument. I know this, because I was on call as a PAF about 7 years ago when Jason Schaefer was the contestant. His fatal question asked what city has a Washington Monument designed by the same guy who designed the one in Washington. I didn't know it off the top of my head, but it was an easy Google hit. Unfortunately, Jason called someone else.

When I saw the words "Nixon" and "alternate universe," Watchmen was the first thing that came to mind.
