David Carr dead at 58

The NY Times columnist collapsed in his office and died last night, as per AOL News.

David was a personal friend. Spent time together over the summer on a quite lake in the Adirondacks, and he and his family have spent Thanksgiving at my house. He was a wonderful, funny, genuine person, who somehow could always manage being both brash and humble. His wife Jill is a wonderful, lovely, engaging burst of energy. He took an adjunct professorship at Boston University this year in part to spend time each Monday with his youngest daughter Maddie. My family and I feel a loss, but more than anything we are heartbroken for Jill and his 3 charming and intelligent daughters. So sad. I miss him already.
