Lyrically Speaking - 2/13/15

#1 Post by Stoned Beast » Fri Feb 13, 2015 4:23 am

Blessed be, this is finally the last day of the 2015 LSWUe! I'm sorry for so many shitty games, but I was pretty unprepared for even a 5 week run, and the last couple weeks I've literally been writing games the morning I was supposed to post them. At least I already knew what I was going to do for the finale... though it's no biggie either. In fact, I've done it many times before. The following 32 songs were all played on one of 8 different Music Choice channels yesterday... Classic Rock, Soft Rock, Party Favorites, Y2K, 90's, 80's, 70's, and Solid Gold Oldies. I got four songs off of each channel, and they repeat in this game in the order I just posted them.

Yes, I'm getting a stone blasted today, thus the MM...

Thanks everyone for playing, and bearing with me through this rather spur of the moment LS season. I can't make any guarantees about next year, but we'll see when the time comes. At least I know next year not to even try unless I actually have a nice stash of games ready to go...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Mother told me, yes, she told me
I'd meet girls like you
She also told me, stay away
You'll never know what you'll catch

2. I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do

3. It started with a whisper
And that was when I kissed her
And then she made my lips hurt
I could hear the chit chat

4. Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

5. You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight
You've burned your breakfast
So far things are going great

6. Will you marry for the money
Take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away
Don't believe it's comin' back soon

7. When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying

8. Charleston was once the rage, uh huh.
History has turned the page, uh huh.
The miniskirt's the current thing, uh huh.
Teenybopper is our newborn king, uh huh.

9. Well Billy Joe told me, said every thing's lookin' fine
He got the place all secured, got the icebox full of wine
He said, "Hurry on over and don't be late"
He got three lovely ladies who just won't wait

10. Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got

11. Think what that money could bring
I'd buy everything
Clean out Vivienne Westwood
In my Galliano gown
No, wouldn't just have one hood
A Hollywood mansion if I could
Please book me first-class to my fancy house in London town

12. Wish I could shut my playboy mouth
How'd I turn my shirt inside out? (inside outright)
Control your poison babe
Roses have thorns they say
And we're all gettin' hosed tonight

13. Now you want to be free
So I'm letting you fly
'Cause I know in my heart
Our love will never die

14. Living his life one day at a time
He´s showing himself a pretty good time
He´s laughing about the way
They want him to be

15. Build my world around you, darling
This love will shine girl
Watch it and see
If you give a little more then you're asking for
Your love will turn the key

16. I’m gonna wait till the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes

17. A connecting principle
Linked to the invisible
Almost imperceptible
Something inexpressible
Science insusceptible
Logic so inflexible
Casually connectable
Nothing is invincible

18. One mile to every inch of
Your skin like porcelain
One pair of candy lips and
Your bubblegum tongue

19. Can you swear to me
That you'll always be this way
Show me how you feel
More than ever, baby

20. Obstacles and inhibition
Follow your intuiton
Free your inner soul
And break away from tradition

21. Every dog has its day
Every day has its way of being forgotten
Mom, it's my birthday

22. Just how true are the rumors I am hearing
About this crush you have on me
Maybe I'm blind but I just don't see it
But I want to believe what they say

23. Ah, woman, woman your touch, your touch has gone cold
As if someone else controls your very soul
Ive fooled myself long as I can
Can feel the presence of another man

24. Every time we meet, everything is sweet
Oh, you're so tender, I must surrender
My love is your love, now and forever

25. Remember to let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better

26. Our paths may never cross again
Maybe my heart will never mend
But I'm glad for all the good times
'Cause you brought me so much sunshine
Love was the best it's ever been

27. It don`t matter what you wear
They`re checking out your savoir fair
And it don`t matter what you do
`Cause everything looks good on you

28. Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I`m closer to where I started
Chasing after you

29. Dance a little stranger
Show me where you've been
Love can make you hostage, wanna do it again

30. You see the signs, but you can't read
You're runnin' at a different speed
Your heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine

31. For who am I to judge you
In what you say or do
I'm only just beginning
To see the real you

32. I'm glad I opened your eyes
The have-nots would have tried to freeze you in ice

Stoned Beast

Sorry for the delay, but I had to traipse back out in the snow yesterday morning (uphill both ways...) to pick up critically needed BP medicine that wasn't available since the clusterfuck that is my doctor's office staff neglected to call it in Friday (after not having any samples of it in the first place, which is the only reason I take the high dollar shit). By the time I got back home, I decided to check out the Tangredi game, and that did me in for the day. It did give our points leader a second chance to hold on to his lead, though....

1. Mother told me, yes, she told me
I'd meet girls like you
She also told me, stay away
You'll never know what you'll catch
Surrender - Cheap Trick

2. I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do
You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift

3. It started with a whisper
And that was when I kissed her
And then she made my lips hurt
I could hear the chit chat
Everybody Talks - Neon Trees

4. Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone
Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

5. You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight
You've burned your breakfast
So far things are going great
I'll Be There For You - Rembrandts

6. Will you marry for the money
Take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away
Don't believe it's comin' back soon
Gloria - Laura Brannigan

7. When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying
Sunshine - Jonathan Edwards

8. Charleston was once the rage, uh huh.
History has turned the page, uh huh.
The miniskirt's the current thing, uh huh.
Teenybopper is our newborn king, uh huh.
The Beat Goes On - Sonny & Cher

9. Well Billy Joe told me, said every thing's lookin' fine
He got the place all secured, got the icebox full of wine
He said, "Hurry on over and don't be late"
He got three lovely ladies who just won't wait
Down South Jukin' - Lynyrd Skynyrd (Gotta love any song that mentions an icebox!)

10. Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
The Living Years - Mike & the Mechanics

11. Think what that money could bring
I'd buy everything
Clean out Vivienne Westwood
In my Galliano gown
No, wouldn't just have one hood
A Hollywood mansion if I could
Please book me first-class to my fancy house in London town
Rich Girl - Gwen Stefani & Eve

12. Wish I could shut my playboy mouth
How'd I turn my shirt inside out? (inside outright)
Control your poison babe
Roses have thorns they say
And we're all gettin' hosed tonight
Just Dance - Lady Gaga

13. Now you want to be free
So I'm letting you fly
'Cause I know in my heart
Our love will never die

14. Living his life one day at a time

15. Build my world around you, darling
This love will shine girl
Watch it and see
If you give a little more then you're asking for
Your love will turn the key
I Just Wanna Be Your Everything - Andy Gibb

16. I’m gonna wait till the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes
The Midnight Hour - Wilson Pickett

17. A connecting principle
Linked to the invisible
Almost imperceptible
Something inexpressible
Science insusceptible
Logic so inflexible

As if someone else controls your very soul
Ive fooled myself long as I can
Can feel the presence of another man

Image Bonus: Show me something that will send the 2015 LSWUe out with a bang!

Crack, Boom, Bang! Thank you everyone who partook in this part of the game all month long! It may have been the only reason I went through the trouble to run the game anyway, because I was wanting to see how well this would work over a prolonged run. The final IBB fiver goes to Search for the squirrel riding a rocket birdfeeder. You just can't beat that for a showstopping finale....

And I have remembered that I was entirely remiss in thanking you for all the work that goes into these games.
