Jackie Robinson West must vacate its wins from the Little League World Series and forfeit its U.S. championship, Little League Baseball announced this morning, after an investigation determined that the team used players from outside its geographic area.
Story
The team's manager, Darold Butler, has been suspended from Little League activity, and Illinois District 4 Administrator Michael Kelly has been removed from his position.
The organization found that the Jackie Robinson team used a falsified boundary map, and that team officials met with neighboring Little League districts in Illinois to claim players and build what amounts to a superteam.

I think they should throw M'onae Davis another parade then and give her another round of talk show appearances.
She's already got the NBA All Star gig.

Little League is rife with this kind of crap. Too bad parents can't be banned from participating in any way except watching/cheering.

I'd like to believe it's not all of LL, but just along the road to the big money in Williamsport that this crap happens.
BitD, when our team advanced in post-league play, it advanced as-is. I've read that today, they take 5 guys from their own team and then raid nearby teams for another 7. Whatabunchof crap!

Hate to burst the bubble, but even 10 to 15 years ago, the adults were ruining the experience for the kids way out here in the sticks. Not saying it's every league in every town, but it is, sadly, everywhere to some extent.

I remember when Phenix City, Alabama won (the U.S. championship or the world championship?) there were people saying they had gotten players from Columbus, Georgia. I guess nothing came of that though.

I agree with T. My dentist's son (now attending a small college on a baseball scholarship) was heavily recruited for teams in all the Four Corners states as soon as he was eligible eight or 10 years ago. My dentist refused to let him go. I dunno his reasons -- none of my business -- but I'm glad he did it.

As a result of the scandal, the team from New Albany, IN, has been given the regional title. Of course that doesn't do them any good because they didn't get the chance to play for the real thing.
