Lyrically Speaking - 2/9/15

by Gimme A Squiggly
So, I'll bet you all dreaded opening up today's LSWUe thread, expecting to see some of my Mecca hits of the 2000's that none of you bother to listen to. Well, you must not know ol' Sam very well. I made my billions giving the customer what they want, even if it wasn't any good for them... so for the final Mecca Monday game of the season, I've included 20 songs that y'all Kroxed during a Mecca game last year as songs you wanted to see on the Mecca CD. While I have no intention of actually adding any of them since they're stupid, I at least thought you might enjoy them more than you would a game full of Taylor Swift and John Mayer.... oh, excuse me...

Can I get maintenance to the electrical room to remove the Jefferson Starplane CD some wise guy put on the PA...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one

2. Don't you think the time is right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time
And can you see

3. Where there is desire there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die

4. You grew up way too fast
Now there's nothing to believe
The reruns all become my history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio

5. So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
As clear as the sun in the summer sky

6. Swing your partner 'round and 'round
End of the night, it's going down
One more shot, another 'round
End of the night, it's going down

7. It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever

8. Some times it's hard to be a woman
Givin' all your love to just one man
You'll have sad times and he'll have good times
Doin' things that you don't understand

9. Yeah he found a six shooter gun.
In his dad's closet hidden in a box of fun things,
and I don't even know what.
But he's coming for you, yeah he's coming for you.

10. Everbody gather 'round now
Let your body feel the heat
Don't you worry if you can't dance;
Let the music move your feet

11. I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion

12. My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you`re like a disease without any cure
She said i`m so obsessed that i`m becoming a bore, oh no
Ah, you think you`re so pretty

13. Together we can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)

14. I don't mind, when you act your age
It suits me fine, that you treat me like a child
And I can't deny, when I'm with you that you
Step outside, from all those fears locked up inside

15. By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through...

16. Champagne for breakfast and a Sherman in my hand.
Peached up, Peached Ale, never fails.
Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been.
Come on, let's do it again.

17. A place for a moment, an end to dream
Forever I loved you, forever it seemed

18. And I know, baby, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real

19. I'm in the mood
The rhythm is right
Move to the music
We can roll all night

20. Now I know, that I had to borrow
Beg and steal and lie and cheat
Trying to keep ya, trying to please ya
'Cause being in love with your ass ain't cheap

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that you would put on the Mecca CD.

Moonlight Feels Right-Starbuck. This is an example of how a seemingly minor thing in a song can make it a favorite or an aural irritant for me. I would have nothing against this song at all, if the singer didn't put in that fake little laugh before the chorus. Just annoys the crap outta me. Yeah, I'm weird like that.

'Cause being in love with your ass ain't cheap
Fuck You - Cee-lo Green

Image Bonus: Show me a picture that brings to mind something from The Bored's past...

I was very much looking forward to what you would all come up with, and wasn't disappointed. BiT's infamous Houston audition picture was the early favorite for the extra five. There were dead Jipters, watch tapers, Morlocks, and old Boreds, interfaces, and dirty words. But I think my favorite reaction was to the image of Matt Holliday sliding into home in the infamous Padres/Rockies regular season tiebreaker game of 2007... because I instantly recalled what it had to do with Bored history. It was the hot topic the morning of October 2, 2007... which wound up being the last day of the TUB before the plug got pulled permanently (Or in other words, it was like the George Harrison RIP notice of the original Go Bored), and was mentioned in the last post ever on that Bored by Sprots. So Bob gets the 5 points!

Then it had to be Panic, because I was sure it wasn't you (at least in the Mecca game I got it from), although I remember you used that song rather cleverly as a Krox in another game. I was thinking Weasel, but then remembered how he said the 90's were a black hole for him....
