I saw today's show, where he starts things. He got what I thought was a really overvalued $100K question that any BB would immediately know the answer to-I did. The next two he got were doozies.
I'm just a game show nerd.

I looked at all four, and two of the quarters on Maryland's flag are definitely stripes. California has one stripe across the bottom, so I guess that doesn't count as "stripeS," but Maryland removes all doubt.

Read the question more closely:
Question 4 – Alabama, California, New Mexico and Maryland are the only four states whose flags do NOT have what?
It doesn't say that these flags all have the other choices. In fact, one or more of these states might be missing one or more of these choices, as long as there's at least one other state which is also missing animals, state seals, and/or stripes.

A very challenging "NOT" question.

They said that Justin is a beer vendor at a sports stadium. (And I could easily see why his personality got the Happy E-mail from TPTB.) Aside from that, he also writes a blog for Slate.

Best contestant we've seen in a long, long time, despite his personality quirks (which I'll bet were what got him cast, not his obvious talent for the game).

I didn't see this day's show because Boston area was doing Snow Stuff; I saw him the next day, which is where my comments are from.

Q3: I've heard of a volcano cake, I think, but have never been to Rainbow Cafe. ATA

Q4: I'm screwed on this. I know Cal has that bear, & that NM has that sun-symbol which I guess qualifies as stripes, but I'm blanking on AL & MD. And am thrown by Georgia's disgusting highway signs (I've driven there a lot in past years) reminding people to fasten their seat belts, with the belt on sign arranged to look like the Confed flag. But I think those signs are supposed to remind people of GA's flag. But are red, white & blue. But should having nothing to do with AL's flag. Anyway, I've confused myself.

I think the Cal flag has the state seal. But am unsure. STQ

Q6: By this time I'm disgusted enough with myself just to "go for it" on Oswald's rife; yes, I was alive at the time, but don't remember reading what it cost! However, I think I remembered it was mail-order, & anyway Kennedy's murder "rates" even over John Lennon's.

There used to be stars on the belt, & belt segments crossed to better resemble that flag. I remember doing a double take when I first saw it; the message to "buckle up" was clearly 2ndary. They seem to have cleaned it up a bit. I'll research this when I'm back at a real computer.
