Lyrically Speaking - 1/29/15

#1 Post by Madigan Men » Thu Jan 29, 2015 3:42 am

Hey, remember us? No, of course you don't. We're irrelevant except for the little fun we've been allowed to have here as a Bored Merry Man... as if that's saying something. All that means is we don't get the day before Thanksgiving off, and we have to occasionally host a stupid LS game like this Theme Thursday. What's the theme, songs nobody gives a shit about? Just answer Justin Bieber to all 12, and you'll at least get half credit...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme....

1. It's two a.m, the fear has gone
I'm sitting here waiting
The gun's still warm
Maybe my connection
Is tired of taking chances

2. Don't be cute don't be funny now
It's later than you think
Oh, what's the use save your money now
It's hanging on the brink

3. I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You're the magician's assistant in their dream

4. Newlywed a year ago
But you're still checking each other out, hey
Nobody wants to blow
Nobody wants to be left out

5. Have you ever been stabbed in the back
By someone you thought was really cool
Did they steal your heart or was it money
Or was it lies they told

6. Oh, where you going to
My lady blue
It's a shame you ruined
Your gown in the rain

7. Something 'bout you
Right here beside me
Touches the touched part of me
Like I can't believe

8. You try to scream
But terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze
As horror looks you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed

9. Now that you're out of my life
I'm so much better
You thought that I'd be weak without you
But I'm stronger

10. Cause out on the ocean of life, my love
There`s so many storms we must rise above
Can you hear the spirit calling
As it`s carried across the waves

11. 12 men strong and true
12 men fight for you
On their heads a beret of green
12 men, invincible

12. A million young poets screaming out their words
To a world full of people just living to be heard
Future generations riding on the highways that we built
I hope they have a better understanding

Lost In Space
Written by C. Collingwood / A. Schlesinger

From the Fountains of Wayne album Utopia Parkway

Have you seen that girl
With the strange look on her face?
She's a pretty little thing but she's lost
lost in space

She's in another world
Yeah she's off in a distant place
She's a pretty little thing but she's lost
Yeah she's lost in space
Yeah she's lost in space

And I can't understand a word she says
And I don't know why she's such a mess
And I can't get through no matter what I do
But I love her anyway

And she walks the earth
But she's not from the human race
She's a pretty little thing but she's lost
Yeah she's lost in space
Yeah she's lost in space

And I can't understand a word she says
And I don't know why she's such a mess
And I can't get through no matter what I do
But I love her anyway

I'd try to talk to her
But it seems like such a waste
Cause she's a pretty little thing but she's lost
Yeah she's lost in space
Yeah she's lost in space
Yeah she's lost in space

Twilight Zone -- Golden Earring. Didn't get this one until after I had figured out the theme. Wouldn't probably have gotten it without the 2 AM line. Those guys were hard to understand, especially since they didn't have any idea what the hell they were singing.

Madigan Men
Hey, remember us?

"Twilight Zone" - Golden Earring

2. Don't be cute don't be funny now
It's later than you think
Oh, what's the use save your money now
It's hanging on the brink

"Jeopardy" - Greg Kihn Band

3. I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You're the magician's assistant in their dream

"Angel" - Sarah McLachlan

4. Newlywed a year ago
But you're still checking each other out, hey
Nobody wants to blow
Nobody wants to be left out

"Angel" - Sarah McLachlan

5. Have you ever been stabbed in the back
