I would have been screaming at the TV seeing the last question.

Alaska became a state in 1959-the first Presidential election after that was the following year, 1960. Nixon ran in that election, and he was a Republican. Goldwater (also a Republican) ran four years later and was trounced by LBJ.

If she thought Nixon was correct, why didn't she just go with her gut???

I remember the coffee pot webcam but couldn't tell you where that was. Given that it's called "FogCam", I'd guess Frisco.

Well that was not the best +1. All four of the choices were Republicans, so it's just a matter of knowing when Alaska became a state, and that was before the Kennedy/Nixon election of 1960.
