Temporary good news

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Thu Jan 08, 2015 3:34 pm

Managed to land a decent long term (minimum 6 months) at a good pay rate, meaning more per hour but no benefits.

The recruiter (who I've been dealing with for two months) and the firm I'm going to are both impressed by my credentials - and by my J! Appearance. Hey, I'm not arguing!

They say they can't tell if things are going to potentially be permanent, but I'll take a foot in the door anytime.

Congratulations! Please remind me what it is you do?

I'm an accountant by trade; this job specifically deals with fixed assets and leases (it's a huge multinational). Although I've be a generalist by accounting standards, those areas were probably about 20% of my prior job (at least until that function got siphoned off a couple of years ago).

But... I still have an interview (full time) with a local county office for an accountant on Tuesday, and they are aware of this. Knowing how fast they work (job posting closed 11/7, and they called 12/26 for the interview!), it'll be late March before they figure it out!

And, best of all, if this plays out well I get to bank the severance package/accrued vacation/retention bonus (seven months total)!

Congratulations!

My temporary job worked out to a nice permanent one so I will hope for that for you also!

Interterestingly, my employer was just ranked as the 3rd most desirable company to work for behind Google and Apple.
