Yesterday and so far today there have been eleven earthquakes in the Dallas area, the largest being a 3.6. This is either because of fracking or it is an amazing coincidence depending on your political affiliation.

I know Elwood was being sarcastical, but stuff like this makes me crazy. It's human caused drastic climate change no matter what your affiliation, same with fracking being an at best ill conceived, at worst disastrous method of extracting additional fossil fuels from the earth. My chief concern is with groundwater, and I sympathize as well with the people experiencing earthquakes in Texas and other states.

A 2.6 Magnitude was reported near Dallas today. Upon further review, the National Geological Society overturned the call and said it was near Detroit.

The epicenters were near (with one right at) Texas Stadium. That was God's stadium (roof with a hole so He could watch his team). I think He is just warning the press to leave the Cowboys alone. After all, there was a penalty, and then there wasn't. It was a miracle.

We flew over it once when we had a lay over going to Vegas a long time ago. It looked more like God's toilet bowl as far as I could tell. The guy sitting next to me didn't think my comment was very funny.

It was a horrible stadium for fans. When it was cold you couldn't get warmed by the sun because you were always in the shade. When it was hot, there was no A/C or breeze. And the parking was a long way across the freeway in a gravel lot.

I think the coldest I have ever felt was watching a high school game in Texas Stadium. The week before, I had gone to SMU's Ford Field and stood outside in mid 20s temps. The Texas Stadium game was on a day with temps above freezing, but I was completely chilled the entire time.

June 2009. There was a big debate about limiting them because people were building massive "pyramids" of nested quotes. TubaDave found a way to only bring forward the 3 most recent quotes in a quote chain, but that went away (along with spoilers) when the Bored went down for a few days recently. Since it was being done automatically, you may not have noticed it was being done.

Climate change re:fracking? I don't want to start another climate change thread but you are aware of some of the recent debunkings of some predictions? Fracking is a whole other discussion.

Also, a major problem is the disposal of the wastewater from the process. The county in which I live, in Texas, the backwater that many of you consider us, successfully, so far, deterred a TexCom water depository firm from constructing a site that would impact aquifers and downstream people. Perhaps people need to be more aware of what's going on in their areas. Local people brought that to the fore. Rather than complain, investigate and go to meetings.

elwing attended a Billy Graham crusade in Texas Stadium back in the '70's. It was pouring rain, but she and the others in the stadium were dry since they were under cover. She said that it continued to rain until the time came for Rev. Graham to preach, and the rain stopped. As soon as he finished and said "Amen" to conclude his prayer, the rain started again.
