Further TLAF update

Hi, kids,

An update on Mom.

1) On Friday, our 90-minute visit consisted of Mom sleeping and my holding her as she slept. She didn't feel like talking she said. We had brief conversations but very brief.

2) Saturday and Sunday, she was VERY agitated. Both at me and my cousin's wife Joan.

3) Today, she was exceedingly chipper. And bright. We talked for about 20 minutes.

And the entire conversation made no sense whatsoever.

She talked about cleaning the house and how she needed to get done before she made macaronis.

We also talked about some raffle. We didn't win but we had a good time, apparently. The guy running it was named Buddy.

In this conversation, we were still living on Allegheny Avenue (from which we moved in 1969), judging from the macaroni conversation. Although no mention of the card and gift store she ran for years.

We are catching the 48 bus to go downtown and buy our Easter clothes. The 48 bus starts across the street from our old house.

I was thrilled to have her not be agitated and irritated.

AND, in some parallel universe, tonight I am getting homemades. :D

love to you, Boonie and TLAF, of course. Chipper is good, even if it's a confusing chipper.

I've learned through several of my friends who are dealing with aging/dementia/Alzheimer issues with their parents how remarkably alike some of the manifestations are to the hub's head injury. It's fascinating, the human brain.

Hugs and vibage from here, too. I remember a couple of fascinating convos I had with Jeff's dad when we were visiting him the year before he died. I believe he was suffering from some form of dementia and/or effects of whatever medication he was on (he was confined to a wheelchair, incontinent, etc.), but he had some doozies of activities going on in his head. I talked to him as if it had been a normal conversation. And it was funny.

Still hard, though.

I LOVE the parallel universe angle and will be stealing it for my own use.

Exactly, Kay!

It would have been a perfectly plausible conversation for us to have in 1966. We might have HAD that conversation in 1966.

:D
