It's not malaria -- too far north. It's not syphilis -- I think that untreated syphilis makes you dead, not immune. It's not Spanish Flu; that was 1918. Smallpox was a huge problem in the colonies. Ben Franklin lost a child or children to it and wrote about the perils of the cowpox vaccine, since sometimes people died from it. Smallpox, final answer.

Terry commented on how cool it was that Bob and Rick were meeting in person for the first time on the show. I was thinking of how many BBs could arrange for a similar opportunity to invite long-time cyberspace friends to be a +1, if we were only given the opportunity.
